It's a bummer that I couldn't close out the season in Lenzerheide. I had a small knee injury after the World Cup in Norway and it is still a little bit too tender to race World Cup Finals. It was cool to have so much support this season from great people who continued to believe in me. I was back on the World Cup podium and now pumped to head back to Squaw for the U.S. Championships.

Sasha Rearick, Men’s U.S. Ski Team Head Coach
Yeah, it was a bummer to lose the last downhill. The hill was in great shape. They had done a great job preparing it. Too much fog today, but that’s how it goes. It’s been a fun season. We saw a tremendous improvement by the whole team, the whole staff: Andy, TJ, Scotty, and the rotational physios that came through did a fantastic job preparing the guys to execute.

Marco kicked off the season with a great podium in Lake Louise from starting way back. The next race we had a good team performance in Beaver Creek which started a huge step in the right direction by Travis. He is showing tremendous speed in the training runs, showing that he’s developing as a future great downhill ski racer. Also, the next race with Steven Nyman, capturing the big win back on his favorite hill. Those were the big highlights of the year.

The other highlight for me was the effort those guys put in. They stayed in Europe for the whole winter, they really stuck to the tight line plan that they had put in place at the beginning of the year, they worked hard, they rested at the right times and they continue to improve when needed. We’ve still got a lot of work ahead of us. Fortunately we’ve got some young guys coming from behind that are going to be nipping at the heels of these three-four guys on the World Cup team.

As a whole, we’ve turned a corner in the right direction and I’m looking forward to a good summer.
